Doc/it Professional Award 2015 – Edition V
The Doc/it Professional Award was inaugurated in 2010 to recognise the Best Italian Documentary of the year. As well as being a prestigious professional award, this has always been an important springboard for the winners.
The library of the Casa del Documentario, Italy’s largest cinema del reale archive, established 11 years ago, is the hub around which the award is organised. The italiandoc.it web platform is responsible for preserving the archive’s films and streaming them securely. It serves as the foundation for selecting films for the award.
84 films were submitted for the Doc/it Professional Award this year. They underwent a pre-selection process by 29 of Italy’s foremost documentary experts. 21 films went through for consideration by a panel of more than 150 film professionals who selected the 5 finalists to be shown as part of this year’s Documentary Month (Mese del Documentario).
The five finalists are in contention for a number of awards: the Doc/it Professional Award for Best Italian Documentary (plus €3,000 sponsored by Doc/it), the Audience Award (plus €1,000 sponsored by 100autori) and several technical awards of services from the sponsors.
